David O'Hanlon: The Man, The Myth, The Dirty Joke

My name is David O'Hanlon and I write things. Biographies are apparently not one of them, because I suck at this part. While I love sci-fi and fantasy and do dabble in both (along with anything else that I'm feeling,) I am mostly a horror writer. I'm also  a single father of two horrible little goblins that inspire me everyday--some days they only inspire me to drink, but it's the thought that counts.

When I'm not writing or tending to the subspecies, I'm teaching people how to stab each other. I've been an instructor in Libre Fighting Systems for over seven years now and nothing is more rewarding that watching my students practice the high art of involuntary acupuncture. I've spent many years in the martial arts, studying styles from around the world. I often incorporate this aspect of my life into my writing.

While I traveled much growing up, I have been stranded in Arkansas for well over a decade now. The diverse geography and ecology make a great setting and our unique folklore has made more than a few appearances in my work. As have our native hillbillies, swanky trailer parks, and who could leave out the ritz and glamour of our meth labs. We also have Wal-Mart.

I have been published in two anthologies so far, both available on Amazon. Below is a review for one of them courtesy of the Retroist.

I've also been published in, the now defunct, Shotgun Horror Clips ezine. You can read that story here:

Shotgun Horror Clips: Halloween Edition

I will be appearing in a number of other collections and ezines over the next six months. My debut novel The Case of the Grinning Grimoire and Other Tales will be released next summer through Bona Fide Outlaw Free Press. I'll also be self-publishing a novella double feature in the spring.

If you're into this sort of thing, here's an interview I did at the beginning of the year as well:
