A Taste of Things to Come

First off, this week has sucked for productivity. I did edit six short stories and get them submitted. I polished an old turd and sent in a query for it. I also rewrote two old stories and submitted them. The two that I rewrote--one I sold before, but the publisher hasn't done anything with it in two years and refuses to answer my emails anymore. The other was the worst thing I ever wrote. They've both been completely revamped and I'm proud to put my name on them, so hopefully they'll be in print for you all soon enough. I got a last minute heads up on two new publishing opportunities and nothing I have started will work for either of course. I'm going to try to at least get started on one of them today/tomorrow. Both are sci-fi and I love the genre. I also really like working in the genre and my first public foray into it was very well received. I also submitted a fantasy story for review and critique that I will be submitting to one of the biggest contests in the genre. I'll keep my fingers crossed. I got word today that my appearance in SciFan magazine will be in the October issue and that the anthology There are Kisses for us All should be available at the end of that month, as well. I'm super happy with the story I have in that collection and will be submitting it to a Best of anthology next week. All in all, I have nine stories under consideration right now and should have a three more ready by this time next week. Now, about that bitchin' pic at the top of the post. The image was designed by the extremely talented writer/director Sy Shanti. My son loves Jason and while we were grocery shopping asked me who would win a fight between him and Batman. Some ideas are just too good. As soon as he said it, my wheels started turning and I had the basic outline for a trilogy in mind before we got out of the store. I didn't really know what to do with it and just typed up the notes for later.

Then I built this site. Anything I publish here officially becomes a reprint when I submit it to publishers and that makes it hard to sell. While I don't mind doing that from time to time, I would really like to make a living off this whole writing thing. Fan-fiction, I can't sell to begin with. So I figured, why not just write the Jason vs Batman stories as a serial novel for this site. You guys get original (and exclusive) fiction from me, my son gets the story he's been wanting, I get to beat the shit out of Batman and write something that actually excites me--everyone wins with this. So, yes, you will be seeing the Batman vs Jason trilogy coming to this website starting in October. I have most of part one outlined in detail and it should just spill across the page. The JvB stories will take place in the eighties, before Friday the 13th Part Seven, and also not rely too heavily on either character's mythology, to make sure everyone can enjoy them. I'm super excited about this series and can't wait to get started on it for you all. Who knows, maybe I'll 50 Shades of Bullshit this into a real novel later if the reviews are positive.

Anything you want to see in the series? I want to hear about it in the comments section below!
